he UK: Poverty, Austerity, and Inequality [ENA] The theater play is about poverty, austerity and inequality in the UK. It shows community of disadvantaged people who are coming together to search for communication, possibility to be a social being and simply warm food. These people are coming together in a small social center being led by a woman, a social worker with great heart who cooks with love food for people, listens to their concerns and provides feedback.

With great sympathy and in several dialogues the performance shows the fragile world of these people who were less lucky or got less chances than others. Sympathy how they treat each other and willingness and search for beautiful and for arts is reflecting in their desire to sing together in a small chore being led by a musician, who was disadvantaged by himself, who was left by his parents.

The theater play is especially actual for UK where the liberal government with great efficiency is implementing liberal reforms. Recently it announced a cut in welfare payments and decreased funding for local government associations. These cuts affected the poorest the most. Between 2010 and 2015 the net income of poorest people in UK decreased by 38%. According to the data of Joseph Rowntree Foundation in 2018 one fifth of the UK population was living in poverty. Currently over 400,000 children are involved in social care and 75,000 are living in care.

The theater play was written by Alexander Zeldin who has developed various projects in Russia, South Korea, and Middle East. After the success of his play Beyond Caring where he shows the world of temporary workers in night shifts at a meat factory, he received the Quercus Trust Award and was appointed Associate Director at Birmingham Repertory Theatre. His next play LOVE was shown in the National Theater in London in 2016. Further on, the play was made to film by BBC and Cuba Pictures.
